Angela Marie Falcone, a New Orleans based jeweler, specializes in handmade sterling silver and natural gemstone jewelry. Her pieces are inspired by nature, emphasizing the natural beauty found within the raw material. She has experimented with both traditional and contemporary wire wrapping techniques, developing her own unique vision. The innate grace of each stone is amplified in every work by Angela Falcone. She has been bringing natural elegance to jewelry and the New Orleans area since 2005, and has recently expanded her efforts to bring the same beauty to the rest of the world through her online retail shop.
Angela recently graduated from Our Lady of Holy Cross College with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration: Concentration in Management. She is currently a Gemological Institute of America student and is applying for grad school in 2012 for her MBA. She works at Gillis, Ellis & Baker, Inc., an insurance agency in New Orleans, as an account manager.
Angela uses only sterling silver and 14k gold filled wire in her jewelry.
Sterling silver is an alloy of 92½ % Silver (.925) and 7½ % (.075) of a base metal - usually copper. Pure silver is almost perfectly white, very ductile and malleable. It is considered too soft for jewelry or flatware use, therefore the addition of small amounts of a base metal serve to harden the alloy.
Gold filled provides the color and lustre of solid karat gold while keeping costs down. People often confuse Gold Filled with Gold Plate. Gold plate is a relatively thin coat of gold electro-plated over a base (non-precious) metal. Whereas, Gold Filled is made by mechanically bonding a much heavier layer of KT Gold over the base metal
